MY EXPERIENCE AT THE CAR PARK

It was early on a Friday morning when I went to the car park to get on a public transport to Abuja. As I sat in the taxi, an elderly man was standing by the window to my right preaching about sinners. To my left was an even older woman begging for alms, she was so old and would guilt trip anyone into giving her something. They were both speaking concurrently.

He started… We are all sinners and God hates sin, there is no way to heaven but through Jesus Christ. Repent and forsake your sins or hell is your portion. To my left the old woman went on and on about how we should feed the elderly and all. The place was too loud and noisy, in the midst of all these noise the old man reached out to me with a flyer and said ‘my daughter, take this’ so I shook my head to say I do not want it. And he began…

‘Continue to shake your head, on the last day we shall tell. All you fornicators shall end up in hell, keep shaking your head judgment day is coming. All you ladies sleeping around, time shall tell. God will disown you in public too’

He kept going on and on about hell being the portion of the sinner. Seeing that he is an elderly man, I knew I couldn’t talk back at him; so I tried to occupy my mind with other thoughts. Before we left he opted to pray for our safe journey and he did.

About 15 minutes out of town, the guy sat next to me tapped me and started talking.

“You know what that man did to you back at the park is the main problem in this country? He didn’t know your religion, he had no idea your relationship with God but he started talking to you about hell and fornication” He also said he wanted to talk back at the old man but he felt it was not worth it.

In case you don’t know about people like this old man, he has an archaic way of thinking which also affected his Christianity. He feels by attacking people with the word of God even if they don’t want to hear it, it means he is doing the work of God. Why didn’t I take the flyer you may ask? Well, it wasn’t just a ‘know more about Jesus’ flyer, it was a ‘come to my church flyer.’ Some people who feel christianity is practiced better in their church.

What would Jesus do? This four worded question can help us when we have to minister to people we feel do not know the gospel. I bet when he is asked he will say the Holy Spirit ministered to him about my life. On that day, I had an eleven o’clock appointment and then I had to see Stephanie and come back home but he completely assumed I was going to see a boy and fornicate. God have mercy!

FASHION TODAY: I went for a friend’s introduction mid January, I had to contact my tailor for an emergency outfit. Recently, I have been sort of fascinated and intrigued by the 1980s ankara style. Get ready you will see more of these on the blog. That being said, I sincerely apologise for not posting for a long time. A taking stock post is coming after this to help us catch up.

Apologies for the rubber band in my hand, it was for my hair but then I didn’t need it but it was too late when I discovered as my bag was somewhere else with a friend. Long story, I hope you understand I cannot afford to loose it and look for this tiny treasure at the end of the day to no avail. You know the rules: don’t loose your ATM card, car keys, rubber band or bobby pins! For a time will come when you will look for it and not find. Okay, I made that rule up.
